FERON-D3

CHOLECALCIFEROL ( VIT-D3) 6,00,000 IU

SKU: b9c14f12bc1f Category:

Description

FERON-D3 represents a high-potency Vitamin D3 injectable formulation used for the treatment of severe deficiency states and allied disorders. Vitamin D3 is vital for good bone health, calcium homeostasis, and metabolism at large. FERON-D3 serves as a fast, dependable, and efficient replenishment of deficient Vitamin D levels, especially when oral medication cannot be administered to patients due to some form of malabsorption or aggravation of deficiency.

Each dose of the injectable contains 6,00,000 IU of Cholecalciferol, which is ideal for the rapid correction of deficiency and restoration of serum Vitamin D to adequate levels. It finds its use in osteoporosis, rickets, hypocalcemia, and metabolic bone disorders, thus effectively supporting calcium absorption and bone mineralisation.

How it Works

Being a fat-soluble vitamin, it undergoes transformation in the liver to 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and then further conversion in the kidney to an active form, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3

Active Vitamin D3 then binds with vitamin D receptors (VDR) in target tissues and controls the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the intestines, and maintains homeostasis of serum calcium and phosphate.

By increasing calcium absorption and bone mineralisation, Cholecalciferol prevents bone demineralisation and disorders of bones and cartilage, like rickets and osteomalacia.

It also plays a role in immune modulation, muscle strength, and metabolic processes.

Indications for Use

The FERON-D3 Injectable solution is indicated in disorders requiring the rapid rectification of Vitamin D deficiency or supplementation:

  • Vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency
  • Rickets and osteomalacia
  • Hypocalcemia and secondary hyperparathyroidism
  • Osteoporosis and other metabolic bone disorders
  • Malabsorption syndromes where oral supplementation is inadequate
  • Patients at risk of fractures due to Vitamin D deficiency

Dosage and Administration

Administration through intramuscular or deep subcutaneous routes: 6,00,000 IU, or as considered necessary by the attending physician.

In severe deficiency, one single dose will suffice, although for some patients multiple doses might be required, dependent upon serum Vitamin D levels and clinical response.

This injection is to be administered by a qualified healthcare professional, maintaining stringent aseptic precautions.

During treatment, it is advisable to keep a tab on serum calcium and Vitamin D levels from time to time.

Possible Side Effects

While generally safe when administered under medical supervision, FERON-D3 Injectable may cause some side effects such as :
